Water Main Break Final Update

CSD relies on local, county, and state agencies for critical information to deliver timely communications to families and staff during emergency situations, including water main breaks, severe weather, natural disasters, and utility outages. While every effort is made to obtain timely information, the responsiveness of these agencies is out of CSD's control. We recognize the disruption caused by today's early dismissal due to a water main break. However, we were working to make an informed decision about school operations in the absence of immediate information. The safety of students and staff is our top priority and will always be at the forefront of decisions concerning school delays, early dismissals, and/or closures.

According to the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management, repair crews are still on site. However, we look forward to resuming normal operations tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The CSD operations team has checked water pressure across all schools and flushed the lines at every facility. The City of Decatur is not currently under a boil water advisory. However, CSD will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
