Notice of Millage Rate and Property Tax Increase Public Hearings

The City Schools of Decatur has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 0.95%. 

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Wilson Support Center, 125 Electric Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030 on June 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.


Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Wilson Support Center, 125 Electric Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030, on June 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. and June 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The board will hold a special-called meeting on Monday, June 29, at 5:25 p.m. to adopt the final millage rate after the three public hearings. 

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 20.30 mills, an increase of 0.192 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 20.108 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $750,000 is approximately $72, and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $950,000 is approximately $91.
