View the recorded video here: https://youtu.be/ANf1AavILaI
In this webinar, City Schools of Decatur presented the work we are doing to raise dyslexia awareness and promote Structured Literacy in the schools. The webinar begins with International Dyslexia Association-GA (IDA) board members Jennifer Burch and Amelia Morel explaining what dyslexia is, the importance of early identification and intervention, and what Structured Literacy is, and why it is important.
Following IDA's presentation, City Schools of Decatur presented the work we are doing to raise dyslexia awareness and promote Structured Literacy in the schools. This portion of the webinar was led by CSD staff members Dr. Kristy Beam (Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning), Dr. Holly Brookins (Principal of Glennwood Elementary), Dr. Gail Hardwick (CSD Literacy Coach), and Ms. Courtney Simon (CSD Director of ELA and Social Studies) who also answered audience questions at the end of the webinar. This section discussed Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, and Fundations training as well as information about our participation in the SB48 dyslexia bill pilot!
