UPDATE (2/7/20) - Coronavirus Information for our Families
Updated February 7, 2020
Dear CSD Families,
We have received a lot of inquiries regarding the new coronavirus outbreak. CSD wants to make certain we are keeping our students, families, and staff as healthy as possible by keeping you informed. With information changing so quickly and every news report about the virus seeming to raise the stakes, you may be wondering how worried you should be. Please see this guidance sent from the Georgia Department of Public Health. As more information becomes available, public health organizations will be sharing key information and strategies, and we will keep you updated.
From the Georgia Department of Public Health-
“Because of the ever-expanding global outbreak, the federal government announced that all individuals (which may include students, faculty, or staff) who have traveled to China in the past 14 days and returned on or after February 3, 2020, will be requested to remain at home and be monitored for 2019-nCoV symptoms by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Students, faculty, or staff whose family members have traveled from China in the last 14 days (and are being monitored for symptoms) do not need to be excluded from school. We understand that school staff, parents and the community are concerned about the health and safety of our children, however, it is important to understand the risk of disease transmission and not impose unnecessary restrictions on persons who do not present an immediate health risk.”
If you have questions about this situation, we encourage you to talk to your healthcare provider or review the information from the CDC or Georgia Department of Public Health.
