Board of Education Meetings
-
The City Schools of Decatur Board of Education holds Executive Sessions, regular Board meetings, and work sessions on the second Tuesday of each month. Georgia law permits the Board to meet in executive session to consider personnel issues and legal matters. These sessions are closed to the public. All regular board meetings are open to the public. Special and emergency meetings are occasionally called to handle school matters that cannot be deferred to the monthly meeting. Notices of all meetings are posted in accordance with state law.
Prior to each Board meeting, board members receive information concerning the items that will be presented on the agenda. This allows the Board members time to consider items and, if appropriate, to consult with constituents prior to making decisions. The agenda for some meetings may include an executive session. During this session, the Board may consider specific topics such as the appointment, employment, and dismissal of employees, and student disciplinary cases. Any official action on these matters must be taken in a public meeting.
Board members do not have the authority to act individually in the name of the Board. The Board may take action only at duly convened regular, special, or emergency meetings.
Dates and times of meetings are subject to change. Please check the district calendar and Announcement section of the CSD homepage for meeting announcements. Board meetings take place at the Wilson School Support Center, 125 Electric Avenue, Decatur, Georgia 30030.
