Georgia’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Amendment

In December 2019, the U.S. Department of Education approved an update to Georgia's ESSA state plan. (Edits are located on pg. 32-34, and pg. 100-101.) The update includes a state defined Alternate Diploma that allows for better inclusion of students with significant cognitive disabilities.  The Georgia Department of Education has created a fact sheet that explains how the Alternate Diploma will impact students.
