The DSC offers this list of questions and considerations to review when seeking therapeutic services. Finding the person who is a good match for the individual is a critical part of the process.

The list of organizations below is not a comprehensive list of available support services. Please note that the providers below are not formally associated with City Schools of Decatur; rather, we are providing information as a resource for our students and families. Please contact the individual organization for more information. 

Addiction

Al-Anon

Al-anon members are people, just like you, who are worried about someone with a drinking problem.

 
Families Anonymous

Families Anonymous is a 12 Step fellowship for the families and friends who have known a feeling of desperation concerning the destructive behavior of someone very near to them, whether caused by drugs, alcohol, or related behavioral problems.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA)

SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357), (also known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service) or TTY: 1-800-487-4889 is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations.

 
To Write Love on Her Arms

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

 

General Crisis

Crisis Text Line

Crisis Text Line is free, 24/7 support for those in crisis. Text 741741 from anywhere in the US to text with a trained Crisis Counselor.

Trans Lifeline is a trans-led organization that connects trans people to the community, support, and resources they need to survive and thrive.

 
Trevor Project

Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ+) young people under 25.

 

Suicide Ideation

Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL)

We can all help prevent suicide. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.
