Background Check Process for Volunteers

Background checks are required annually, not every school year. Schools must wait for official clearance before assigning duties. The process for getting a background check is outlined below.

Step 1: Pay Background Check Fee

Volunteer pays the $38 annual fee through the CSD Public Store. Financial assistance may be available through the school.

Step 2: Schedule an Appointment

Volunteer schedules a fingerprinting/background check appointment with Safety & Security through the district scheduling process.

Step 3: Complete Fingerprinting

Volunteer brings a valid government-issued photo ID to the Wilson Center, fills out required forms on-site, and completes fingerprinting.

Step 4: Safety & Security Review

Safety & Security reviews results and determines whether the volunteer is cleared.

Step 5: School Receives Status

The school receives the volunteer's clearance status. Screening details remain confidential.

Final Determinations:

Cleared: Volunteers may participate in approved duties.

Not Cleared: Volunteers may not be assigned duties requiring clearance.
