CSD Respiratory Virus Guidance

If an individual tests positive for flu, COVID-19, or RSV, they should follow the guidelines outlined below:

You can go back to your normal activities when, for a period of at least 24 hours, both are true:

    1. Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
    2. You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).

*Note: Some individuals may require a more extended recovery than others. 

If an individual experiences a fever or worsening of symptoms after resuming normal activities, they should stay home and avoid contact with others until the following two conditions are met:

Individuals should exercise caution for five days after returning to normal activities. These activities include:

  • Practicing good hygiene (i.e., covering coughs and sneezes, using proper hand-washing techniques, and cleaning surfaces (e.g., counters, doorknobs, and handrails)
  • Wearing well-fitted masks
  • Maintaining physical distance
