Transfer Requests

The request form for in-system transfers for the 2026-2027 school year is now open.

Transfer requests will be considered on or after April 15, 2026. At that time, we will determine if space is available at the requested school. If you have questions about your transfer request, you may contact Patrice Moore at pmoore@csdecatur.net

City Schools of Decatur (CSD) understands that families may, at times, wish to request a transfer for their child to a school outside their assigned attendance zone. Families who are interested in submitting an in-system transfer request should carefully review the following information and complete the SY25-26 Application Form linked below.

General Information:

  • The form below must be completed by the parent or legal guardian of a current CSD student to request a transfer to another school within City Schools of Decatur.
  • Students must be registered in the school zone where they live before a transfer can be requested and considered.
  • Transfers are granted on a space-available basis only and are not guaranteed. Enrollment at a student's assigned attendance zone school takes priority.
  • Approved transfers are typically for one school year only. If you wish for your child to continue attending the transfer school in subsequent years, a new transfer request must be submitted annually.
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for providing all transportation for students approved for a transfer.
  • Approval for one child to enroll out of zone does not apply to other children in the same family.
  • For transfer enrollment to continue, parents are expected to comply with school policies and procedures.
  • With the approval of the Superintendent or designee, a principal may request that out-of-zone attendance be terminated based on one or more of the following reasons:
  • Discipline issues
  • Excessive absences, tardies, or late pick-up of the student
  • False information is given on the application form or other records
  • Other just causes
  • If a parent requests a transfer to a school that does not provide the services required by the current Individualized Education Plan (IEP), the district is not required to develop those services at the requested school, as long as they are available within the district. If services per the IEP are not available at the requested school, the transfer will not be approved.
