I am proud and excited to begin my 21st year in CSD! During my first year in Decatur, I taught second grade at College Heights, when the building was a PreK-5 school. For the next 3 years, I taught first grade there and then moved to Oakhurst as a 1st grade teacher for the next several years. Before College Heights, I taught fifth grade in Dekalb County. This is now my seventh year as a second grade teacher in “the best little school in the world.” I graduated from the University of TN-Knoxville, with a B.S. degree in Elem. Ed./Early Childhood Educ. Go, Vols! There, I participated as a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and also as a piccolo/flute player in the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. Go, Rocky Top! Years later, I received a Master’s degree in Reading & Literacy at Walden University and followed up with a Gifted Ed. endorsement. My greatest passions in teaching are laughing with my students, watching them as they collaborate and present their ideas, and dressing up in zany costumes!
My only child, Justin, was a lifelong learner at CSD, as he began as a 4 year-old Frasier Center student all the way up through Decatur High. I am now extremely happy/relieved to say that he is now a 21 year-old productive citizen of the working community! We enjoy spending time together by competing for “Best Comedian,” watching movies, having great conversations, and playing with Pepper, our black/white female cat. Last, during my free time, I enjoy watching college sports (especially SEC), TV/movie bingeing, shopping, and singing to anyone who dares to listen!
