2021 SLT Candidates

The following parents have expressed interest in serving RMS's learning community as members of the SLT:

  • Renfroe Middle School is fortunate to have four candidates for the open positions on the RMS School Leadership Team (SLT).

Election details will be communicated shortly. Please see their biographical information below:

    William Blackwood

I have taught in DeKalb county public schools for 16 years. In addition, I work for the Georgia Virtual School as well as with the AP, IB, and TOEFL programs, and I am also involved in teacher-certification assessments. My certification fields are: English, ESOL, gifted, German, and social sciences. My degrees are from Georgetown and Yale. I would be happy to apply my knowledge of public education to parental involvement at Renfroe. Because of my background, I often am able to offer perspectives that can address a wide range of educational needs and goals.

    Courtney Sollie

    Background/Biographical Info:

I have been committed to the children of our district since moving here in 2018 from the NYC area. I have actively engaged with the community by serving as a mentor to 5th graders at FAVE, helped establish the Talley PTO, assisted with several events at Talley, and served on multiple committees at WP.  I am currently serving a second term as Winnona Park PTA co-president and chairing the book fair committee at Renfroe.

I am an active volunteer with DEF. I have led neighborhood food, gift card and clothing drives. In 2018, I completed the DEF sponsored Courageous Conversations training.

I am a parent of four kids in CSD schools. I have two at Talley (5th and 3rd), one at Renfroe (8th) and one at Winnona Park (K). I am also a freelancer who works in marketing and communications primarily focused on college recruitment.

    Why I’d like to serve:

I understand the challenges of the past year as I too navigated the unknown of COViD -19 with my own family, while also prioritizing and advocating for inclusive educational experience for  ALL children in our community through my various volunteer roles. As such, I am committed to keeping our children first as we enter a new school year.

The Renfroe Community benefits from the continued support and involvement of the administration, teachers, parents and students. I personally have witnessed how the administration listens to and takes action on student proposals/ideas. I want to continue to support this type of leadership and be an active participant in the continued growth of the Renfroe community. Thank you for your consideration.

    Patricia Liscio

I have identical twin boys in 6th grade at Renfroe. While I am from Toronto, I spent a decade in Southern California, where my boys were born and raised, until moving to Decatur in late 2018. We chose Decatur primarily because of this school system, and to be part of a small city community.

Since our arrival, I co-chaired the inaugural Safe Routes to School/Transportation Committee at Talley for the past two years, and was the 5th Grade Member at Large on the Talley PTO last year. I’m currently the SRTS parent representative at Renfroe. I am also an active member of the City of Decatur Pedestrian Advisory Committee, which advocates for accessible and safe sidewalks and bike routes throughout the city, for citizens of all abilities. I am passionate and dedicated to ensuring the safety of our children, in all aspects, remains a top priority.

My background is in urban planning and project management, working closely with cities of all sizes during the approval process to develop and construct shopping centers. I am also a LEED Accredited Professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a green building rating system) as well as a WELL Accredited Professional, which addresses occupant health and well-being in building and community design, including Covid mitigation strategies and policies. I am thrilled all CSD schools recently earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating, and I will help ensure we maintain the requirements for this certification and contribute to implementing any future sustainability, environmental, and wellness goals.

Given I thoroughly enjoy participating in my school community, and have the time to dedicate to the role, I would love the opportunity to be a member of the Renfroe SLT to utilize my skill set and experience in analyzing school data to aid in decision making, and participate in the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan.

I appreciate your time and consideration.

    Ayanna Robinson

I have lived in the CSD community for nearly 20 years and have enjoyed raising our two daughters, Patricia (DHS 11th grader) and Julia here with my husband, Elliott Robinson (DHS SLT member). Even before our first daughter was born, we chose CSD because of its strong academic reputation. In our years here, we have been active parents volunteering to chaperone field trips, supporting teacher breakfasts and doing shifts at school field days or fall carnival fundraisers. The past 18 months have showed me the need to step up and do even more to make a lasting impact on student experiences outside of just our daughters’ classrooms, so I was a co-chair of the Talley DEI committee last school year. This year, I would like to serve on the Renfroe SLT to advocate for a positive academic experience for all students and teachers.

As a child who grew up with a mother as a teacher, I want to do more than just say I support teachers. As a member of the SLT, I hope to put those words to action for all teachers and students who enter the school at Renfroe. My daughter recently made the school’s volleyball team and even that experience is helping me to understand some of the greater needs to support our coaches and student athletes. Professionally, I am the Chief Client Officer for Porter Novelli, a global integrated communications agency, where I have worked for 20 years. My background includes public health communications working with government agencies including CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services and corporate communications specializing in crisis and reputation management.
