Rochelle Lofstrand

Rochelle Lofstrand has been an administrator in City Schools of Decatur since 2010. She began her career in CSD as an Assistant Principal at Decatur High School (2010-2014) and then was named the principal at Westchester Elementary (2014-2020) and Decatur High School (since 2020).  Ms. Lofstrand taught high school Chemistry, AP Chemistry and Physical Science at North Springs Charter High School in Fulton County since 2000 before coming to CSD. She has earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Masters in Science Education and Educational Leadership, and a certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School Online.  In addition to being a National Board and ESOL Certified educator, Rochelle also taught for two years in Namibia as a member of the US Peace Corps.

Jessica Sturm Barber

This is Ms. Sturm Barber's 4th year as an Assistant Principal at Decatur High School. Her background is in Special Education and she has taught several different subjects throughout her teaching career. She graduated from the University of Missouri for her undergrad. Her education continued at Georgia State University where she received her Masters in Urban Teacher Leadership & a Specialist degree in Education Leadership. Ms. Sturm Barber says that her most favorite part about her job is seeing the growth in students from Freshman year to when they walk across the stage at graduation. Ms. Sturm Barber is excited to get married in September of this year and spends time with her fiance walking on the beltline.

Rasheeda Salaam Tolbert

Rasheeda Salaam Tolbert has been an educator in primary and secondary education for 20 years. She has dedicated her life to serving children and families as an advocate, counselor, educator, and leader in K-12 schools. Mrs. Salaam Tolbert is a fierce advocate for building and maintaining school communities in which anti-racist, equitable, social and emotional learning and trauma informed approaches are prioritized and implemented. She is also a licensed Restorative Practices facilitator and trainer.

Kevin Champion

This is Mr. Champion's 1st year as Administrator at Decatur High School. Prior to this, Mr. Champion was a math teacher at DHS for 7 years. Mr. Champion is a bulldog at heart, with degrees from UGA and Mississippi State. Ms. Champion's favorite part about his job so far is getting to make positive connections with students throughout the day. Mr. Champion loves to fill his nights and weekends with quality time with his wife and two kids.

Karina Green

Karina Green is entering her 2nd year as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Coordinator and her 15th year in education. She is also one of two Instructional Coaches at Decatur High School. Her background is in Mathematics Education and she has taught every level of high school mathematics coursework and served as an Educational Program Specialist for 8 years concurrently in the Mathematics & Science Graduate School Program at the University of Georgia. She taught mathematics at North Oconee High School (2007-2009), Charles R. Drew High School (2009-2014), Decatur High School (2014-2017), North Springs Charter High School (2017-2020), and returned to Decatur High School in 2020. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Florida and Master’s & Educational Specialist’s Degrees in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia with Gifted In-Field, Educational Leadership, and Teacher Support Specialist Certifications. She is a proud member of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. (Alpha Alpha Chapter). Ms. Green has served as an AP Reader & IB Examiner, written content for College Board AP Calculus AB & BC Examinations, and presented at various conferences about Curriculum Design, Teacher Development & Support, Project-Based Learning, and GACE Certification & Course Design.

Duane Sprull

Mr. Sprull has served in education since 1998 as a teacher, K-12 central office, and building level administrator. Since 2007 Mr. Sprull has served as the Career, Technical, Agricultural Education (CTAE) and Decatur Career Academy (DCA) Director for the City Schools of Decatur (CSD). As a high school teacher, Mr. Sprull specialized in technology-based instruction, including computer applications, web design, and networking (Cisco Network Academy). In 2003 Mr. Sprull was awarded the Columbia High School Teacher of the Year. Mr. Sprull is a graduate of Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Education. He has a Masters's degree in Instructional Technology from Troy State University and an Educational Specialist Degree from Jacksonville State University. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. with the Sigma Eta Lambda Chapter. Mr. Sprull has presented at various conferences and parent meetings about dual enrollment, new teacher support, student discipline, CTI, and instructional strategies for college professors working with high school-age students.
