  • March 24, 2020 Update

     

    Hello everyone,

    I hope you are all doing well.  I have gotten a few emails about needs for chrome books or something from a student's locker.  F.AVE is closed and no personnel is at the school.  We really tried our best to make sure that there was an opportunity for folks to grab what they needed.  We are sensitive that things may have changed or that the day and time may not have suited everyone, however, we also have to set limits to keep us all as safe as possible. We also have received additional guidance from the Mayor of Decatur about limiting our time away from home only to essentials.

    If you are having issues with access to Google Classroom or any activities/assignments that teachers are sending, please just let your teachers know what is going on and they will be understanding of that.  If applicable, they can assign some alternatives for students to engage in.

    If there is an opportunity to change this in the coming weeks, I will reach back out and let you know.

  • March 18, 2020 Update 

     

    We are going to err on the side of communicating quickly rather than perfectly, so anticipate updates and/or corrections on a regular basis. We will issue updates via email and our website (https://www.csdecatur.net/covid19) and our other communication mechanisms as more information becomes available.

    Hello F.AVE Community,

    I am sure you have received communication from our district office about school likely being closed through spring break.  So, it is imperative that you have what you need from the school.  We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow at your assigned times.  We will try to limit the number of people in spaces to 10 and encourage distance between us all if we need to wait for a little bit for entry into spaces.  

    We will have three entrances open: (There will not be entry through the front door)

    • Gate in the horseshoe driveway that leads to the Outer Buildings and Mezzanine doors
    • Mezzanine doorway that leads to the 2nd and 3rd Floors
    • Door entrance to Cafeteria via Playground area

    If you need to pick up items from the lockers, please report directly to that floor-grab and go. 

    Technology

    Sign up for chrome books has closed.  If you did not sign up, there is not one that has been reserved for you.  You can check back at the conclusion of all assigned times Wednesday between 6:15-7:00 PM for availability for check-out.   

    Chromebooks will be on tables in alphabetical order by grade levels.  Please read the attached agreement for chrome book check-outs.    By receiving a chrome book for your child, you are agreeing to the conditions and agreements outlined in the letter

    Medications

    Due to our uncertain timeline for school reentry, the district requests that ALL stored medication be picked up by families.  Nurse Dubyak will be at F. Ave tomorrow from 6:00pm- 7:00 pm for you to pick up your medications. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medication. If you prefer not to pick up your child’s medication, please contact your school nurse Marla Dubyak, RN by email at mdubyak@csdecatur.net to let her know.  We cannot guarantee that your school will be accessible at a later time to collect medications. If it is not retrieved at the designated time for your school, it may be inaccessible for an undetermined amount of time. 

  • March 16, 2020 Update

     

    Hello F.AVE Families,

    I just wanted to provide a brief reminder for Wednesday.  We will be open for families to retrieve items from lockers and check-out technology as needed.  Remember that students will need access to a device for no more than an hour each day.  If you can provide that access, then please reserve the technology for families who can not.  These devices are not necessarily the ones students have been assigned to use during the school day.

    Sign up for a chrome book

    The schedule for pick-ups of any kind is below.  Please grab what you need and go as quickly as you can to make space for others.  If you have a need or conflict, let your teacher know as soon as possible so we can best plan how to accommodate you.

    Chromebook pick up is in the cafeteria. You can report directly to lockers to gather items you need.  Feel free to enter or exit from any door.  No sign-in necessary.  Staff will be assigned to different areas to assist you.
