Winnona Park is a K-3, school using the EL Education instructional framework https://eleducation.org. The PTA board and teaching staff continue to work very hard to incorporate the Core Practices of EL Education into the culture of our school. These Core Practices enable the staff to design instruction that positively impacts students in EL’s Three Dimensions of Student Achievement: Mastery of Knowledge and Skills, Student Character, and High-Quality Student Work.

A Note regarding Interim positions at Winnona Park:
After much consideration, I have decided to maintain the current leadership of Winnona Park Elementary with Ruth Scott as Interim Principal. Due to the timing of the position posting, I feel that this is the best course of action for the school, allowing for the position to be reposted during the prime hiring season next school year. I appreciate the staff and community's patience during this time of transition. Thank you, Ruth, for stepping up and ensuring a smooth transition and a positive learning environment for all students.
In June 2018, we also hired an Interim Instructional Coach, Julie Semones. Ms. Semones has 27 years of experience in education, has worked as an EIP teacher at Winnona Park for three years and was at FAVE for six years prior to that.

Please take the time to read this handbook carefully. Included in the handbook is a detailed description of arrival/dismissal routines, as well as other school policies and procedures. This form must be completed for students to ride the CSD-provided school buses. This includes a school calendar, as well as direct links shown at the bottom of the site. You can access the parent portal from the shortcuts on the center of our website.
Parent Portal – Families new to CSD should have received an email from Infinite Campus with a prompt to set up a parent portal account. The parent portal allows parents to view their child’s attendance records, assessment records, lunch balance, and an online lunch payment option. Parents can customize their contact information to ensure they receive emergency school and CSD robo-calls. If you are a returning and/or new family and are unable to login to the Parent Portal, please email School Manager Nekee Mathis firstname.lastname@example.org with “Parent Portal” in the subject line.
Free and Reduced Lunch Application
Look for Free and Reduced Lunch application, and the Health Information Form in the first weeks of school.
Communication day at Winnona Park is Thursday. An eblast will be sent to all subscribers Thursday afternoons. Grade level news and miscellaneous forms will be in a folder in your child’s book bag Thursday after school. Sign up for weekly eblasts here

Please read the welcome letter and highlights from our PTA. We have many PTA functions planned for the coming school year, and I encourage each of you to become actively involved in some way. The PTA is focused on supporting the instructional program of the school and building community.
Breakfast and Lunch– Breakfast is served from 7:30 – 7:50 ($1.25 per child). Children eating breakfast at school need to arrive at school by 7:30 to ensure they do not miss classroom instruction beginning at 8:00. Classroom lunch schedules are being finalized this week.
