I am beginning my 29th year of teaching and my 9th year in gifted education.  I spent 17 years at Morningside Elementary in APS and this is my twelfth year in CSD.  I have had two incredible looping experiences.  One at M'side where I kept my students for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.  In addition while at Glennwood I spent two years with a class that graduated from DHS in May of 2017.   I enjoy provoking the students’ thinking and encouraging them to never stop questioning things!  Reading, history, and math are a few of my passions.  The bulk of my years have been in fourth and fifth grade, but I have also taught 2nd and 3rd grades.  I have a Masters from Emory University in middle grades science and a math endorsement in addition to my gifted.     jtheisen@csdecatur.net
