The Board of Education has the primary responsibility of setting policy for the school system. Written policies are maintained in the City Schools of Decatur Policy Manual, which is an online publication. Any changes to these policies require board action. When the Board considers a new policy, it prefers to make the draft available for public comment during the month preceding the board meeting at which action will be taken.
