    Pod Updates and Announcements:

    Update November 10, 2020

We have now opened 10 pods in four buildings across our district.  Over the last few weeks, our Pod team has recruited 40 pod facilitators and continues to recruit and train more staff to open additional pods in the near future.  I believe we will hear more about this from Dr. Dude later in the meeting but I just wanted to thank the district for working hard to get these pods up and running so quickly and addressing the needs of over 100 of our kids

    Update November 4, 2020

Emails went out this week (November 2-6) about open additional Pods around our district. These emails indicated to families whether their student has been assigned to a pod or is still on the waiting list. More information will be going out soon regarding the start of this week's pods which would start next Thursday, November 12. If you were informed your student has been assigned to a pod, you can expect that the next email you receive will reflect the specific child's name as well as the location and days assigned. We hope you are well and we look forward to seeing #ourkids in our #csdpods ASAP! Be well and let us know if you have further questions! Questions can be directed to wcpod@csdecatur.net.

    Update: October 28, 2020

The District Learning Pod program exists to provide temporary supervision to fill the gap of student and family learning needs during CSD’s transition from Virtual Learning to In-Person Learning.

As of October 27, 2020, we have received about 370 requests for students to join pods. Approximately 220 of those requests note the highest urgency level of 4 or 5. We are onboarding 20 newly hired Pod Facilitators who have come to us through our sub pool, closed child care programs (like Animal Crackers), personal networking and recruitment efforts, and are utilizing existing CSD staff who are available to work additional hours. At this time, we have the staffing to open pods to accommodate about 150 of the most urgent requests. We hope to provide an update directly to families on Friday, October 30 with a tentative opening date for most pods on Thursday, November 5, 2020. You can read more details and submit your request to be considered for a pod here---> District Learning Pods.

Questions can be directed to wcpod@csdecatur.net.

The District Learning Pod program exists to provide temporary supervision to fill the gap of student and family learning needs during CSD’s transition from Virtual Learning to In-Person Learning.

If you have seen this before, it is not a déjà vu: this is our second attempt at establishing and transitioning students into pods. Circumstances have changed for many families with the postponement of returning to in-person learning, and we’re asking families to (re)submit a pod request even if you have already done so.

District Learning Pods are cohorts of 8-10 students with a supervising adult where students can complete their virtual learning work four days a week: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Pods will follow CSD’s calendar, schedule, and Code of Conduct and Restorative Practices Handbook. Pods will operate on a limited basis on Wellness Wednesdays, permitting ongoing training and deeper cleaning.

We have begun to onboard and train staff and will continue to do so over the next few weeks as we start to open pods. Your pod participation requests will help us plan accordingly. You will be contacted if your student can be placed in a pod. The Pod Coordination team will begin forming pods with these requests at noon on Monday, October 19. Subsequent requests will be put in the queue. All requests are subject to a waiting list depending on capacity.
