Degrees and Certifications:
The 2023 school year marks the start of year 25 in education, and each year has brought its own set of adventures. My husband and I moved to Georgia in 2007 and I joined the Best Little School in the World in 2008. I started at Oakhurst as a third grade teacher, and transitioned into the role of Instruction coach in 2017. Growing up in Maryland, I was never far from the water or mountains and it was from my experiences hiking, climbing, and paddling in the Chesapeake Bay that my love for the outdoors was born. After receiving my BS in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland in 1998, I taught in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, specializing in environmental science and literacy. I completed my Masters of Education at Mercer in 2017 and just completed my Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University this past July.
My husband and I have two children, ages 10 and 14, and two pups who are 9 and almost 3 years old - we love exploring the outdoor opportunities and adventures around Georgia, and one day we may even get used to the Georgia summers.
