FIRST (For Inspiration of Robotics, Science, and Technology)

  • Competitive robotics combines the excitement of sport with the rigor of science and technology. The Decatur Robotics teams do much more than build robots and have something for everyone. Beyond building, designing, and programming robots, roles include community outreach/service, fundraising, social media and branding, and more. Students with varied backgrounds and experience are organized into subteams to focus on these different specialties. With Decatur Robotics, every player can go pro, and we invite you to join us in this exciting sport. Students have called it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Students in 9th-12th grades are eligible, and no prior experience is necessary. We need curious minds, problem-solvers, team players, and above all, individuals who share our love for innovation and learning.

  • FIRST Robotics Competition Team

Decatur Robotics FRC (also known as Team 4026) is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team. The team can have 25 or more students and design, build, and program an industrial-sized robot from scratch each season. The FRC team meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year.

    FIRST Tech Challenge Team

The FTC team (also known as Team 4232) competes in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). The team size is limited to 15 students. The team has a reusable kit for designing and building its robot and uses Java-based programming. The FTC team meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from September through February.
