Special Announcements

  • CSD Meal Service 2021 (Updated 1/19/2021)

We are excited to announce that CSD's School Nutrition Department will be offering FREE breakfast and lunch to ALL our students through the end of the 2020-2021 school year! Meals can be received in-person by our in-person K-5 students as they exit their building or picked up Decatur High School for our virtual students.

All children under the age of 18 (or under the age of 21 for youth with special needs) may participate in this program. Children do not have to be CSD students to participate. We ask that non-CSD children accompany their parents/guardians when picking up meals to ensure that we are following USDA guidelines for distribution.  We are so thrilled to be able to offer this service to our community!

    • Updates on the pre-order system: We will no longer be using google forms to pre-order student meals as we did in 2020. ALL students who are learning in-person at K-5 schools will be given meals as they exit their building. They will receive both breakfast and lunch meals with the option to decline milk. All students who are learning virtually will be able to pick up meals at DHS from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: Map of CSD TakeOut Spot Location.

    • Vegetarian and Special Diets: Please fill out the form below to help us predict the demand for vegetarian meals and special diets. Our department has been provided the total number of students at each school site, however, not all of these students will want vegetarian meals or won't have special dietary needs. We want to be able to provide meals for ALL students. Both vegetarian meals and special diet meals will be located at the front office of all of our CSD buildings. Please complete this form for more details and information. Forms for Vegetarian Meals and for Special Diet Meals

    • Ordering Adults Meals: CSD teachers and staff must purchase lunches in order to eat with us. Adults lunches are $4 each and follow high school portion sizes. See the flyer below for a quick rundown of how to order meals! You will place your pre-order the week before in order to receive lunches in the following week. We ask that ALL adults add funds to their Infinite Campus account, as we cannot accept cash & check at this time. After students exit the building, please go to the cafeteria area of your school site. The school nutrition worker in your building will assist you in receiving meals. We must use our cash register systems in order for meals to be handed out, which is why we are asking adults to go to the cafeterias to receive their meals. We are incredibly appreciative of your choice to eat with our program! Order Form for Adult Lunches

    • Pick up Location and Time Frame: Meals can be picked up at our CSD TakeOutSpot located at the bus lane off Commerce Avenue on the west side of Decatur High School, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Map of CSD TakeOut Spot Location

    • Pick-up ProcessWe would like to thank you in advance for helping us minimize the spread of COVID-19. To support us in our efforts, we ask that you wear a mask while picking up your meals. Also, in order to be sure that we are following USDA accountability guidelines, only parents/ guardians can pick-up meals for their students.

    • Learning Pod Students: Students who are staying in pods after in-person learning instruction ends will also be given meals like all the other students. They will be given time to safely unmask and eat in their pod groups. Please contact your child's school site for more information on the learning pods.

    • Summer Meal Program: The CSD School Nutrition department is currently following a program called Seamless Summer Option, which is supported by the USDA. As we transition to this new program, all students will be provided BOTH breakfast and lunch meals. We will not be allowing students to opt-out for breakfast. We encourage you to try our breakfast as it's an important part of a healthy diet! We will still allow children to opt-out of taking milk. Providing both breakfast & lunch to our community ensures adequate nutrition and access for all.
    • Thank you for your patience: We thank you for your feedback and support of our school nutrition program! To submit questions or feedback email meals@csdecatur.net.

A reminder from CSD Nutrition: The Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application must be filled out each school year. (Even if you filled one out in the spring, you need to fill out a new one for the coming school year.) The online application for 2020-21 is now available in the parent portal at https://campus.csdecatur.org/campus/portal/parents/decatur.jsp. You only need to complete one application per household.  Note that those eligible for free and reduced-price meals may qualify for other types of public assistance or services available during this pandemic.

Please note that if you have a special dietary need, you must email sblack@csdecatur.net to see if any accommodations can be made. The forms for that are located under the "Special Diets" section of the "Menus" tab.

To find information on refunds and payments, please visit our "Payments" tab.

School Nutrition Program

  • The School Nutrition Program contributes to a successful academic experience and encourages a lifetime of healthy eating by serving Decatur students nutritious, appealing, high-quality, affordable meals every day. Both breakfast and lunch are available to students at all schools.

Our school system participates in the National School Lunch Program and offers free or reduced-price meals to students who are eligible. Free and reduced meal applications are sent home with all students at the beginning of each school year. Parents are asked to fill out applications and return them to the school office. Only one application needs to be filled out for all members of a family. Applications must be turned in every year. The school nutrition office approves applications based on need and guidelines set up by the federal government. You can pick up an application for free or reduced-price meals at your child’s school or at the City Schools of Decatur Central Office.
