Decatur Education Foundation
Georgia State University's partnership with the DSC has been a strong and diverse partnership. The Community Mental Health program has placed Masters level interns to complete their year-long internship at the DSC since 2018. Our GSU interns provide individual and small group counseling, as well classroom lessons for students on a variety of topics and needs.
The Counseling and Psychological Services department has partnered with the DSC to provide Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) to personnel throughout CSD. This evidence based program allows us to better identify students in need, provide intervention and lend hope.
Pathways2Life (P2L) has been a partner with the DSC since 2018. Pathways2Life offers prevention education, crisis intervention and support for young people and their families who are engaging in, or at risk of developing, high risk behavioral patterns, including related to drug and alccohol misuse. The P2L counselor currently works with students at Renfroe MS and Decatur HS. Services are provided through funding from DEF through Joe's Fund.
Pathways Transition Program (PTP) provides school based therapy for students. Administrators, school counselors, teachers and parents can make a referral for services. PTP works with families to see if their program is a fit, and establishing a relationship with the family and setting up billing. PTP accepts a variety of insurances.
