Board Policies and Administrative Regulations

  • Board Policies and Administrative Regulations work together to establish the rules and procedures by which the school district operates. The primary difference between the two is that Board Policies are enacted by the Board of Education and Administrative Regulations are enacted by the Superintendent's Cabinet. A school board's focus is on the "Ends" (i.e., the outcomes they desire for students) so their policies tend to focus on outcomes. The administration's focus is on achieving the ends through programs and practices (i.e., the "means") so their regulations tend to focus on the "nuts and bolts" of the system.
