    Kindergarten

    • Identify classroom instruments by sight and sound
    • Play percussion instruments in a steady beat
    • Create and Improvise beat patterns
    • Identify a quarter note, a quarter rest and understand the value
    • Read and play quarter notes and rests in a beat pattern
    • Create and draw their own 4 beat patterns using quarter note and rest
    • Singing and performing Holiday pieces

    First Grade

    • Identify classroom instruments by sight and sound
    • Play 4 beat patterns with percussion instruments
    • Create improvisations with percussion instruments
    • Identify and know the value of quarter notes, eighth notes and quarter rests and half notes
    • With the same notes and rests, students can read and play 
    • Create their own 4 beat patterns and perform in an ensemble 
    • Singing and performing Holiday pieces

    Second Grade

    • Identify orchestral instruments by sight and sound
    • Play 8 beat patterns with percussion instruments
    • Create improvisations and arrangements with specific guidelines with rhythmic and melodic instruments
    • Identify and know the value of quarter, eighth, half and whole notes and quarter rests
    • With these notes, students can read and play and use notation to create new patterns
    • With a small group, students arrange organized patterns to create a musical piece
    • Singing and performing Holiday pieces

     Third Grade

    • Identify orchestral instruments by sight and sound and group into families
    • Listen to and analyze orchestral pieces
    • Identify and know the value of quarter, eighth, half and whole notes and quarter rests
    • Using these notes and rests and creating, reading, notating and playing 8 and 16 beat patterns
    • Perform in small ensemble musical compositions
    • Singing and Perfoming Holiday pieces
    • Identify notes on the treble clef staff to prepare for recorder
