DHS offers different levels of Visual Arts courses in which students engage in structured studies of critical analysis, cultures and contexts, sketchbook practice and skill development. Our students have won awards from Scholastic Art & Writing, Olmsted Plein Air Invitational, and The Atlantic Institute.

Graduates of the DHS Visual Arts program have continued to pursue their interest in the fine arts at universities such as Yale, Virginia Commonwealth University, Kansas City Art Institute, Maryland Institute College of Art, School of Visual Arts New York, School of Art Institute of Chicago, Ringling College of Art and Design, and the School of the Museum of Fine Art- Boston.
