Social Studies Overview
-
The social studies department at Decatur High School is committed to developing active and engaged citizens who strive to contribute positively to their local, national, and global communities. To further this goal, social studies teachers at Decatur High School work to help students collaborate with others in order to make meaning and solve problems; pursue curiosity in a self-directed way, accepting accountability for learning; analyze differing perspectives for context, merit and bias; engage in effective research; and make well-supported arguments to communicate effectively and respectfully, both verbally and in writing.
