Booktoberfest
October 1-31
We are so excited to share with families that Booktoberfest is coming to Glennwood! Booktoberfest is a month-long celebration of special events all centered around growing great readers at Glennwood and building a lifelong love of reading! Events will be sponsored by our community partners, GL PTA or the school.
We are thrilled to be offering two author events in October for all K-2 students. Our first author event is sponsored by Brave + Kind Bookshop with Dan Paley coming on October 6th. Brave + Kind Bookshop offers parents the opportunity to purchase the book directly with the bookstore by simply scanning the QR code below. Orders are due by October 1. Super easy!
On October 9, we will be hosting Peter Reynolds in conjunction with the Children's Literature Brunch event, both sponsored by Little Shop of Stories. Book order forms for this author event will be sent home in communication folders today. You can also download the order form and find more details below. Orders are due by September 28.
Both of these events are sponsored by our community bookstore partners and are zero cost to our school. Additionally, when you purchase a book, a percentage of the sales goes right back to Glennwood and supports our school library. All books will also be personalized and signed by the authors!
Thank you in advance for your help and support in purchasing a book for these author events! If you have any questions, please contact Dee Anna Rittenhouse, Library Media Specialist at drittenhouse@csdecatur.net or Anne Dishman, Media Clerk at adishman@csdecatur.net.

Walk and Roll to School Day - September 15
Please join us on your feet, your bike or your scooter (don’t forget those helmets!), and let’s show CSD how Eagles SOAR! Students who walk, bike or scoot will continue to enter their grade-specific doors, where they will be counted, using our traditional marbles, by their staff door monitors.
Don’t forget, each marble counts towards students earning extra school-wide recess, with announcements made at Community Circle! For additional details (including our three Walking School Bus Routes) and a full Walk & Roll schedule for the year, please visit the Glennwood website.
Please reach out with any questions to Glennwood Walk & Roll Chair, Rachel Dubreuze - srts@glennwoodespta.com

Community Circle
We welcome parents to continue attending Community Circle! Be ready to sing and participate as we will now have the song lyrics and other program highlights posted on the big screen!
In order to maintain security as well as manage logistics of quickly moving guests and classes in and out of the auditorium, we do ask that you follow a few guidelines:
-
Parents may enter the building after 8:20 am once carpool time ends.
-
Parents must enter through the carpool doors by the auditorium ONLY.
-
Be prepared to show your Community Circle Visitor Pass or your ID to the staff member on duty (the pass will be emailed to you and a hard copy will also be sent home.)
-
Parents will have designated areas to sit or stand in the auditorium. The benches along the walls are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Just like our previous Community Circles, students may not sit with parents and younger siblings may not sit with their older siblings who are Glennwood students.
-
Please keep the pathway of traffic clear at all times near the exit doors in the auditorium. The floor will be marked with tape.
-
Parents will be dismissed first once Community Circle is over. Please exit through the auditorium or carpool doors as quickly as possible. Classes begin at 8:50 am and students need to be able to exit and get to class quickly.
Students arriving after 8:20 am are considered tardy and parents will need to park and bring the student inside to the auditorium if arrival is 8:30 am or after.

Fall Carnival and Chili Cook Off
Saturday, October 21
Are you ready for Fall Carnival Fun??
Mark your calendars now and prepare for lots of fun! Our school grounds turn into an entertaining and engaging carnival with activities for the whole family.
This is our school’s major fundraiser, and proceeds generally support a variety of school projects, including the purchase of new supplies or playground equipment, field study sponsorships, teacher support and training and the list goes on.
Parents, we need YOU to make this year’s Fall Carnival a success!
Everyone pitches in, so plan on being part of the fun! The entire Glennwood school community works hard to make this event a reality. You can help by working in your class booth with other parents, baking desserts, decorating the school, setting up/taking down, you name it. Get ready for a fun-filled weekend, with lots of laughing and camaraderie!
IMPORTANT: **WE NEED CAKES FOR THE CAKEWALK** Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, dessert bars, donuts, pastries, etc. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Please label ingredients. Please drop them off at the school, the day of the event at 9am. If you need to drop off before the day of the event, please email Nydia Almond at: president@glennwoodespta.com
We also need some donations for the event, if you can't volunteer but would like to donate an item for the festival, please visit our Amazon Wishlist . (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/HQA7OFUX9JXC?ref_=wl_share)

Hello Parents!
We need your help to make sure each booth has enough volunteers. Below are the assignments for each booth. Please sign up for a shift with your class’s booth to ensure that we have a fun and successful carnival. Your room parent will have instructions specific to your assigned booth.
