Degrees and Certifications:
This is my 15th year as an Oakhurst Owl! Even after so many years, I continue to be amazed by the creativity, curiosity, and idealism of our young learners. My favorite part of teaching is connecting with each of my students and building authentic relationships with them and their families. My teaching goals are to nourish the unique strengths in each student and cultivate joyful learning moments.
Aside from teaching, my family keeps me busy. Spencer and I have a blended family of 5 kids, all of whom are also Oakhurst Owls: Stormie (sophomore at Georgia State University), Blake (8th grader at Renfroe), Luca (5th grader at F.Ave), Liam (5th grader at F.Ave), & Zuri (3rd grader at F.Ave). I can’t forget about our 3 dog children, too!
Before starting grad school, I used to have hobbies; I love to read, create art, cook, play outside, build things, explore, eat great food, visit museums and live music venues, along with a host of just about anything else that’s novel and active. When I’m not teaching or with my family and friends, I can usually be found sitting in front of my computer trying to finish my dissertation. My primary research interest is the intersections of Indigenous science and quantum mechanics, and I use my experiences in the classroom as an ecology for these theories. I am always seeking out opportunities to learn something new, and I hope to foster a similar lifelong love of learning with my students!
